Sri-Srat is a stylishly rustic Thai eatery showcases the best of Trat cuisine. Trat is a province on the eastern seaboard of Thailand famed for the abundance of seafood, fresh fruits and rare herbs. Tucked in Sukhumvit 33 is the quirky and beautifully remodelled house-turned-restaurant which is barefaced by its iconic emblem—the B&W face of a woman wearing a stylized crown (the woman is the owner Wongwich Sripinyoo’s mother, a former Trat beauty queen). The dining room is lavishly decorated with wooden louvred panels and a painting on the wall create the perfect atmosphere to welcome a buzzy, high-end crowd to dine. The staffs are friendly and will take you through the menu and happily give suggestions on what to order. The service can be slow when the place is crowded. Even though Sri-Srat is awarded a knife-and-fork by Michelin which shows the restaurant is quite comfortable, try to get a sofa seat as the wooden chairs are discomforting.

The menu carries unusual and delicious array of fresh ingredients which includes a must try house specialty of long pu kai, a creamy chilli dip made with a whole mud crab and Khao krieb pak mor dieng, a rare treat stuffed with coconut and green beans are also great dishes. Beware to mention the spice level as they tend to serve extremely spicy dishes. Take your chance to taste delicious wine, whiskey and good beer in the beautiful bar though it is quite expensive compared with the dishes. Reservations are a must even on weeknights, your reservation might get turned away if it’s not made early enough.
