Located on the fifth floor of Central, the Original Store, on Charoenkrung road, Aksorn by David Thompson evokes delectable nostalgia using volumes of recipes from David Thompson’s own collection of cookbooks from the 1950s to the 1970s. Aksorn offers its guests an experience of Bangkok’s flavors from times past.

The current set menu (THB 2,800++) begins with an hors d’oeuvres course of minced pork and salted fish with star anise and sardines on toast, which is followed by a starter of fresh rice vermicelli with crab, coconut and chilli. Highlights from the list of mains include: braised river prawns with pork, green watermelon and duck eggs; shrimp paste relish with mandarin, chillies and kaffirlime with vegetables; red curry of grilled salted beef and pea aubergines and duck eggs braised with five spice. Aksorn boast an impressive wine list with many European and Australian wines.
