Mini pumpkin with crabmeat soup. Stir-Fried Minced Chicken Topped with Caviar. Strawberry Mousse and Beetroot Sorbet.

The ambience is great with the music that plays in the background. Quite an interesting design and d้cor resulting in a beautiful, sleek and cool atmosphere. The peacock theme runs throughout the dining room.

The staffs very attentive, professional and polite but the timing of the arrival of each dish is highly inconsistent.

The menu contains traditional spicy and sour crispy beef, Stir fried Australian Wagyu ribeye with goose liver, Braised lobster with ginger and spicy sauce, Spiced crispy pork with sesame, Mini pumpkin with crabmeat soup. Others include mapo doufu with foie gras, a tea-smoked pigeon, crab and pumpkin soup; Chuan Chuan; vegetables and meat in a spicy and numbing broth, Assorted Sichuan spicy wild mushrooms, Small patisserie. Though a lot of spices is used by the Peacock Room’s menu not all the dishes are spicy. The wine list in this restaurant is arguably one of the best in the city with a special wine cellar wall featuring the world’s top wineries.

RMB 1,200 for two

The Peacock Room serves the high-quality meal in an elegant environment, and some dishes can get really spicy in some dishes but the extensive wine list is top notch. The price is on the high side but compared with the degustation menu offered similar high-end restaurants in town it is acceptable. Bring a sweater or jacket along if you are coming in the summer as the AC is intense.
