8 ½ Ottoe Mezzo Shanghai is the third restaurant under the ownership of the award-winning chef Umberto Bombana, (Known as ‘The King of White Truffles’) and it is located in Rockbund district, an area of restored historic buildings from Shanghai’s colonial period. Just like its counterpart in Hong Kong and Macau, 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo Shanghai, a two Michelin-starred restaurant offers one of the best Italian high-end dining where dishes were executed to perfection with an emphasis on bringing out original flavors.

The Italian dessert 8 ½ Signature of Tiramisu must not be missed for anything. Homemade Buratta-filled Ravioli with black truffles will surely excite your palate.

The decor is lush, classy, and stylish with a blend of dark and light tones, a mlange of textures. The chic space comes with a cocktail bar and a balcony with magnificent views of the Huangpu River. The main dining also provides jaw-dropping views of then iconic Oriental Pearl Tower and Lujiazui through the window.

From the moment you step into the restaurant till the very last second, expect impeccable service from the welcoming and accommodating staff. The presentation is awesome and the staffs are knowledgeable and helpful. They speak good English as well.

The menu at 8½ Otto e Mezzo is based on classic Italian techniques employing the freshest and most exquisite ingredients available. Starters like Canapes – (king crab salad, chicken liver pate, parmesan waffle), Mozzarella mousse, and Amuse bouche will excite your taste bud. The main course includes Homemade Cavatelli (seafood soup, Kinki fish, king crab, lobster and clam), Trenette pasta with red tuna and bottarga eggs), Steamed Normandy Blue Lobster served with lobster consomm้, garden summer vegetables, delicious roasted garlic puree, Stewed lobster with sea urchin, etc. A dessert of pear tart or refreshing Almond Foam, Meringue, and Peach Sorbet is a nice option. Also, wines are better valued by selecting a bottle from the hundreds of wine lists than the glass.

Degustation Menu: RMB 888 – RMB 2,380 A la Carte: RMB 1,288 – RMB 4,888

The idea that less is more is the core here. The courses were meagerly sized, considering the expensive price tag but the quality and taste of the food worth every penny. However their Sunday brunch offers a great value package.
