In a wonderfully elegant atmosphere, Wei Jing Ge offers a blend of sophisticated comfort and modest opulence. Wei Jing Ge offers an array of Chinese dishes featuring Cantonese and Shanghainese cooking including an irresistible Dim Sum menu with a variety of Chinese tea sections.


Wei Jing Ge, headed by Hong Kong born chef Sam Yuen, former chef for Zhu Rongji and Bill Clinton, serves an authentic array of Shanghainese, Cantonese, Sichuan, and Huai Yang cuisine. Wei Jing Ge is located in a heritage building on the fifth-floor of the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund. Enjoy fine dining in one of its six private dining rooms, each uniquely furnished with a mix of traditional and modern custom designs.


Steamed Spotted Garoupa with Ginger, Wok-Fried Scallops with Bamboo Shoots and Asparagus, and of Course Wei Jing Ge Authentic Cantonese Dim Sum.


The Waldorf Astoria’s fine dining restaurant delightful attic large open rafter wood ceilings are illuminated by elongated lanterns and ornate surrounding showcases diverse collections of Chinese art and reproduction antiques. Presenting wonderfully elegant atmosphere, Wei Jing Ge offers a blend of sophisticated comfort and modest opulence.


Service is professionally prompt and the staff was very patient in explaining the menu and giving selection advice. Many speak good English.


Guests can choose from one of the set menus or order เ la carte. tasting menu of “signature” dishes, including the highlight, for us, the Truffle “xialong” bun, the truffle mixed with foie gras, Sauteed prawns with seasonal fruit in sweet and sour sauce, Har gau, siu mai, chicken feet, BBQ pork puffs, spareribs, egg custard tart, chow mien, steamed spotted garoupa with ginger, live seafood., braised e-fu noodles, the signature crystal shrimp (bland to the point of boredom), the signature matsutake mushroom soup, Short rib in black pepper sauce. Complement your meal with choices from over 500 exquisite wines expertly chosen by the exceptional sommelier, or try splendid Chinese liqueurs and spirits.

The setting is elegant, calming offering meticulously executed cuisine and service and cuisine. The location is great on the Bund but this restaurant doesn’t have much of a view. The pricing is not too expensive but can’t say the same for the drinks, even for tea.
