SKÅL International Bangkok Champions Hospitality & Charity

With the gracious support of General Manager Francis Zimmermann and his culinary team—led by a Chef Philippe Gaudal, whose decades of service at The Landmark have elevated hotel dining into an art form—the food was nothing short of exceptional. Guests enjoyed a beautifully curated international buffet that paid tribute to timeless classics while delivering modern flair.
The event’s presentation and format also drew praise, with a thoughtfully choreographed flow that balanced formal remarks with moments of connection. Out-of-the-box ideas and surprises gave the evening a fresh, memorable feel.
The gathering welcomed over 40 distinguished guests, including academics, tourism executives, media, and government leaders. Among them were K. Chutiphon “Porshe” Niyamisara, attending as a representative of H.R.H. Princess Adityadorn Kitiykhun and Head of the Land Bridge Project at the Port Authority of Thailand; and K. Kris Sampoosri, Protocol Officer from the Prime Minister’s Office.
A Salute to Quiet Heroes
The evening’s most meaningful moment came during the presentation of charitable contributions to three changemakers whose work reflects the very best of Bangkok:
Sr. Louise Horgan, a Good Shepherd Sister whose more than 60 years of service through the Good Shepherd Bangkok Foundation have brought education, safety, and dignity to generations of women and children.
Greg Lange and Friso Poldervaart, co-founders of the Bangkok Community Help Foundation, whose tireless outreach in underserved communities continues to provide innovative, practical solutions at the grassroots level.
“At SKÅL Bangkok, we believe that tourism should benefit more than just the traveler,” said James Thurlby, President of SKÅL Bangkok. “It should lift up the people and places who make Thailand extraordinary.”
Hospitality With Heart
More than a networking mixer, the event served as a reminder of the industry’s deeper purpose. Through warm conversation, shared values, and generous giving, the evening underscored how hospitality in Thailand extends beyond hotels and airports—it lives in the spirit of service and solidarity.
