L’Atelier Hong Kong serves ultra-modern French classics delivered in a vibrant atmosphere. L’Atelier is designed with a circular bar enveloping an open kitchen allowing guests to see chefs prepare dishes right in front of their eyes.
Joël Robuchon is recognised as having been the most influential French chef of the post-nouvelle cuisine era, and at his peak operated more than a dozen restaurants around the world. Executive chef David Alves, who is from Paris, had worked for Robuchon’s restaurant group since 2001 before being invited to head the Hong Kong venture in 2014.
MUST TRY: Free-range quail with foie gras and mashed potato.
L’Atelier, French for “workshop”, offers counter-style seating around an open kitchen, and has a d?cor in rich reds and black. Le Jardin has table seating, a dark-wood ambience, and looks out to a garden terrace that also has seats. Le Salon de Th?, on the lower floor, is a cheerful salon that serves breads, cakes, tea and coffee.
Service is everything that can be expected of one of Hong Kong’s most famous restaurants, and staff are notably well informed on the remarkable wine list.
Both sides of the restaurant serve set menus as well as a la carte, and bento boxes are offered at lunchtimes. The cuisine is pure Robuchon, modern French dishes served in small and exquisite portions, using seasonal ingredients, and paired with wines from one of the largest and finest collections in town.
HK$598 to HK$2,080
An incomparable experience at what remains Hong Kong’s only Michelin three-star French restaurant, and which will help maintain the Master’s legacy for years to come.
